The holder must be supervised at all times by a licensed driver at least 21 years old with at least 3 years of driving experience, seated in the front seat.
Examination Permit (auto): Available at age 17 to those who did not take a student learner permit, and to adults. For GDL applicants (under 21) it is valid two years; for non-GDL applicants (21+) the exam permit is valid 90 days. Same 21+/3-year supervision rule applies.
Supervised practice: Permit holders under 21 must complete a minimum of 50 hours of supervised practice driving, including at least 10 hours at night, certified on the BA-CSD form.
